Terre Exotique Aleppo Pepper Flakes, 45g

Aleppo pepper has a similar flavour profile to paprika but with a more intense, earthy heat. It is a staple ingredient in Turkish, Lebanese and Middle Eastern cuisine. Robust and aromatic, aleppo pepper flakes have undertones of cumin and a tangy, fruity finish that has been compared to lemon or sun-dried tomatoes.

Aleppo pepper is named after the Syrian city of Aleppo, which lies on the famous silk road spice route. It’s a great addition to tomato sauces, kebabs and kofta and rich stews with goat and lamb. Add a pinch to hummus, sautéed potatoes or muhammara (roasted red pepper and walnut dip). The heat builds slowly, adding spice and complexity to dishes like baked eggs and roasted pumpkin.

Aleppo pepper flakes are a good match for warming spices like coriander, cumin and oregano. You can also use it with cinnamon in sweet dishes like brownies and hot chocolate.
