Murano Glass Green Cake Stand, 25cm

This Murano glass green cake stand is a sleek and stylish way to serve your favourite cakes and sweet treats. Made in Italy, the elegant cake stand has a sturdy glass base and a swirl pattern in an eye-catching shade of forest green. Use it to serve freshly baked croissants, salted caramel brownies or a show-stopping homemade birthday cake.

As these are all handmade by artisans, each piece is one of a kind and there will be slight variations.

What is Murano glass?

Murano glass is produced on a small island in the Venetian Lagoon using techniques that are over 1000 years old. It is a painstaking process during which a mixture of silica sand, potassium, soda and lime is melted at 1500 degrees. Once it has cooled to 800 degrees and thickened in consistency, it is mouth-blown into shape by the local glass masters. Minerals are added to the glass mixture to create the bold colours and elaborate designs Murano is famous for. Known as ‘art glass’, Murano glass comes in many forms, including tableware, figurines, jewellery and chandeliers.
