Greek mountain tea is also known as ironwort and shepherd’s tea. Infuse it in hot water to make a soothing hot drink. Its flavour is sweet and floral with earthy undertones.

The branches are harvested from the sideritis plant. This hardy plant grows on rocky soil at an altitude of more than 1,000 metres. The branches are picked by hand and dried in the shade. The gentle drying process preserves its delicate flavour and aroma.

Mountain tea is caffeine free so you can enjoy it at any time of day. Serve a cup with honey cake or buttery shortbread. It’s full of antioxidants and great for your digestion.

If you like a sweeter brew, add a spoonful of Kalios wildflower honey. In Greece, they add a few drops of lemon juice. The citrus tang complements the tea’s fresh, floral flavour.
