Goji berries - also known as wolfberries or gǒu qǐ - are renowned as Chinese superfood. The small dried red goji berries have a sweet, smoky tea-like flavour, and in Chinese cuisine are cooked in savoury soups, stews, braised dishes - as well as being added to sweet jellies and congee. Alternatively blend with kale and superfood chia seeds for a breakfast smoothie.

The wolfberry or goji berry is thought to be very high in antioxidants, and in Chinese medicine claims to have tremendous healing powders, and anti-aging properties. The berries are harvested from either the Lycium barbarum or Lycium chinense, which are native to southeastern Europe and Asia.
